Peyton Manning came back from four neck surgeries over the past year, and a hiatus of 1 year eight months to beat the Pittsburgh Squeelers last night 31-19.
ESH was especially elated to see the results of a Denver team re-engineered with the future hall of fame QB Manning who had spent all his professional career with the Indianapolis Colts since graduating from Tennessee in 1997 and being the 1st pick overall in that year’s draft. And doing it against the football equivalent of the Evil Empire (cf. Star Wars).
The victory was definitively sealed when Tracy Porter jumped a route in the flat and intercepted Squeelers QB Roethlisberger for a 43 yard pick 6 to the house. Denver has punked the black and gold previously last January with QB Tim Tebow at the helm in an improbable win with Demetrius Thomas, who also scored again last night.
With the outcome of the Monday Night Football game tonight of Cincinnati vs the Ratbirds, the AFC North will have three team starting out at 0-1 for the 2012 football season.
